Dana was introduced to yoga in the early 2000’s at a little hot yoga studio where she wondered, “why is it so hot in here?” Having been a seeker of spiritual experiences and of bliss (not always in the healthiest of ways), yoga was instantly intriguing and she came back to the practice over and over for years. After experiencing a life-rocking loss in 2014, Dana enrolled in a 200-hour yoga teacher training program as a way to heal and grow. It was in that training she discovered that sharing the practice of yoga is her calling, through and through, and hasn’t looked back.

Now a 500-hour RYT based in Portland, OR, her teaching style is modern, uplifting and fun while rooted in yogic history. A background in competitive dance and massage therapy informs a deeper understanding of movement and anatomy in her classes while a lifetime of musicophilia informs her curated and eclectic playlists. Expect thoughtful sequencing set to purposeful playlists, accessible and relatable yogic philosophy, an overall hootenanny. In other words, a transformative good time.

She is a woman in recovery, a Mother to unique and wonderful children, a trauma survivor, and an imperfect human who stands with, for, and behind our most marginalized and vulnerable populations. In the words of Fannie Lou Hamer, “Nobody’s free until everybody’s free.”

Dana Sweeney has a passion for teaching people in an inclusive way with humor and realness. She’d sincerely love to meet you one day – on or off the mat.
